Map of the Burmese city of Mandalay on the Irrawaddy River. The city has a grid of roads and buildings, dominated by Fort Dufferin (formerly Mandalay Palace). The surrounding country has villages, crops, agricultural ponds and irrigation channels.

Detailed topographical map of the east coast of Sumatra, spread over 34 sheets. The area’s farms are listed and shown on the map, with types of crop grown. With five inset maps of individual towns. Two sheets and the cover sheet are missing.

The routes of nine expeditions (1830 to 1869) are marked on this map. There are also short notes about trading (e.g. at Oonoung in Burmah: ‘A bazaar, with a great variety of European goods’), and a list of other maps referenced in producing the map.

This detailed map of the Dutch East Indies in the mid-19th century is spread over eight sheets, plus a cover sheet showing the whole area. There are numerous inset maps of islands, bays, cities etc.
